Wonderful black pottery moccasins by San Ildefonso Pueblo Indian artist Juanita Wo-peen Gonzales. Made as candle holders back in the 1970s, they have all the details of the lady's traditional moccasins: flared sides, button holes and defined soles.The traditionally made pottery is stone burnished to a high shine, pit fired to black. Standing 3" tall 3 1/2" heel to toe and 2 1/2" wide. Signed. No sign of candle wax, but the right foot is less polished than the left. No chips or cracks.
