Navajo Indian healing ceremony is finely woven by Helen Begay of Burnham, New Mexico.
The woman is the patient and the Medicine man directs the Yei bi chai dancers. Note the shadows of Yei in the background. also the vertical bands are sash belt designs.
Helen Begay is well known for her very contemporary expression of traditional Navajo symbols. Also the finely woven details of jewelry and clothing.
This is a fine little tapestry, measures 18" by 32". The sides are pretty even, a little pucker on the right, not unusual in so fine a weaving.
