Miniature red pottery olla by Art Cody and his son Dean, known as Haungooah, Kiowa Sioux of Oklahoma. He shares the name Haungooah with his grandfather, a legendary 19th century Army Scout and ledger artist.
Art Cody married Santa Clara Pueblo Indian Martha Suazo in the late 1960s and moved to the Pueblo where they collaborated on tiny pottery, she made them and he carved them. They began winning prizes with their very first miniatures.
Unfortunately they both died at young ages, she of an illness, he in a car wreck, in the mid-1980s.
This small tall neck olla is 3 3/4" tall by 2 1/2" diameter and is carved with the classic Avanyu. Highlighted with green mineral color and a fine little heishe bead for the eye. Signed AH DH, for father and son. This is one of a few they made together!
Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance.
