Fantastically large and elegant pottery vase by Navajo Indian artist Lucy Leuppe McKelvey portrays the sandpainting story of the "Legend of the Whirling Logs".

The gracefully shaped tall neck vessel stands 18" tall and the low shouldered globular body is 15" diameter. Unbelievable presence!

Delicately painted with the four sacred plants: corn, beans, squash and tobacco, the Yei's are the arms of the whirling logs, there are animal guardians and Warrior Twins. Lucy is known for making slight variations to the sandpainting details so she won't offend the Spirit Beings.

Many subtle earth colors are employed over the red and golden slips. You can see some fire clouds from her outdoor firing.

This is the most awesome piece we have seen of her amazing artistry. Purchased within the last ten years, it is in mint condition. Signed.

$50.00 for packing, shipping and insurance.
