Tiny seed pot, sgrafitto carved and polychrome painted by Santa Clara Pueblo Indian artist Camilio Sunflower Tafoya, circa 1980. This miniature pottery is 1 1/4" tall by 1 1/4" diameter, signed and serial numbered. Camilio Tafoya, b.1902-d.1995, father of Joseph Lonewolf and Grace Medicine Flower, was well known for traditional carved large pottery vessels that he made with his wife Agapita, until Lonewolf and Medicine Flower encouraged him to try the little pieces, finely polished then lightly carved. His designs are whimsical and lyrical. Deer Dancers are honoring the deer who bring rain and game, two realistic deer rest at the end of the rainbow. Buyer pays $12.00 for shipping and insurance. |
