Bendrew Atokuku Traditional Whipper Kachina
Hu Kachina is carved in the new traditional style by Hopi Indian artist Bendrew Atokuku of Second Mesa. Bendrew is from Shungopovi, Water Clan, and is a featured artist in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers". We only see a couple of carvings from Bendrew each year and they are always exceptional.

The Tungwup Whipper Kachina is beautifully carved from dried cottonwood root, with arms separate from body. Nicely dressed with leather bandoliers, tiny shells, horsehair, fur and feathers. This hanging Kachina is 11" tall plus feathers, signed.

The Hu Kachinas are the Initiation whippers who appear before Bean Dance in certain years.

Buyer pays $20.00 for packing and shipping.
