Plaited willow basketry bowl by Thomas Stone of Santa Clara Pueblo, circa 1980's. Known for his use of fine willow branches and small number of crossed branches at the start, this deep red willow has a contrasting design of peeled branches. Baskets like this are used for serving the wonderful pueblo horno baked bread. Dimensions are 11 inches in diameter by 4 inches deep. Perfect original condition. Attribution to Thomas Stone was made from Larry Dalrymple's fine book on Indian Basket Makers of the Southwest. Also, Larry wanted to buy this basket from us several years ago, but it has been part of our collection. Buyer pays $12.00 for shipping. |
