Graceful pottery bowl shaped by the hands of Maria Martinez, polished and painted by Santana, her daughter in law. Together they made nice pottery after Julian passed in 1943, until Popovi Da partnered with his mother in the 1950s. Maria, b.1887-d.1980, and Santana, b.1909-d.2002. Signed "Maria + Santana" in the clay. Lovely luster surface and painted with the familiar "Feathers". Stands 5" tall by 6" across the shoulder. Circa 1950s era, excellent original condition, no cracks or chips, there is one square inch area of abrasion to the surface on the back of the jar. A fine collectible piece of pottery history by a Matriarch and her famous daughter in law. Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance. Original price $2500.00 |
