Silas Claw Navajo Pottery Mountain Goats
Navajo Indian pottery, that is folk art, was created by Bertha and Silas Claw in the 1990s. Bertha would make a traditional clay wedding vase and Silas would decorate with applied clay and commercial bright paints. Inspired by the world around him, Silas featured a variety of game on this Wedding Vase vessel. An eagle chases a lamb, a mountain goat is perched on a rock, a big horn sheep checks out an antelope and a crow.

Nicely shaped pottery stands 8 1/2" tall and is 5" across. Wonderful original condition. Signed.

This pottery by the Claws is a real find! Just out of a local collection. Bertha and Silas Claw are featured in the Rosenak's book "The People Speak, Navajo Indian Folk Art". They were also the subject of a biographical article in the Spring issue of American Indian Art Magazine.

Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance.
