Navajo Indian weaver Sarah Begay has created the Arizona State map in traditional Navajo weaving. With pictorial elements she depicts the icons of the Grand Canyon State. Hand woven on the upright Navajo loom, this wonderfully folk art style textile is finely executed with many colors, animals, place names even abbreviations of her own making. Measures 29" wide by 36" long, 14 warps and 32 wefts pre inch, a smooth even weave. It hangs flat with square edges. Sarah Begay wove this fun rug in about 1995, purchased at the Heard Museum Gift Shop. Perfect condition, like new. Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping. |
