Marcella Kahe Hopi Indian Pottery
Marcella Kahe, Arizona Indian Living Treasure of 1993, Hopi Indian artist of First Mesa, created this unusual double handled pottery jar circa 1980. This is a happy scene with sunflowers and butterflies, which is depicting her Butterfly Clan.

Marcella is the mother of Karen Kahe, another fine Hopi potter. Marcella passed on in the summer of 2008.

Traditionally hand built with coils of native clay, stone burnished and decorated with mineral and plant paints, pit fired. Signed.

This large jar stands 9 1/2" tall by 9" diameter plus the lugs. It has a lean to it like we see with basketry ollas. Quite a bit of character here!

Overall good condition with a minor rim chip as pictured. No cracks or repairs. The chip can be restored if you wish.

Buyer pays $25.00 for packing, shipping and insurance.

Original price $2400, reduced price $1500.
