Beautiful Hopi Indian pottery jar by renowned artist Violet Huma, mother of Anita Polacca. Purchased at Hopi in about 1960, the original $20.00 price is written in ink on the bottom. Signed.Traditionally hand built with native clay, stone burnished surface, decorated with mineral and vegetal paints, then pit fired with wood and dung, this tall jar measures 8" tall by 4 3/4" across the top. Condition is good with no cracks or repairs, some rim wear from years of handling and old clay pop outs over the surface. A classic Hopi vase for your collection from a well known artist!
