Pottery canteen purchased from Hopi Indian artist Anita Polacca in 1998 in her home, see photo. Anita has been making traditional Hopi pottery for over fifty years, no doubt learned from her famous mother Violet Huma, whose style of painted decoration they share.Traditionally hand built with native clay, stone burnished surface, decorated with mineral and vegetal paints, then pit fired with wood and dung, this canteen measures 7" across the lugs, 5 1/2" top to bottom and 5" deep.
