Item#660822

The Mission Indians are groups of Southern California tribes who are known for their pretty baskets woven of the multi-colored juncus reed.

This pretty tray has lots going on: cloud designs of dyed juncus, bands of lighter colored sumac and black and white ticking. It is interesting to follow the natural color variation of the juncus.

Dimensions are 13 1/4" diameter by 2" deep. Four coils and 7-8 stitches per inch. Very fine condition for a basket circa 1910-20, only three missing rim stitches and a couple on the bottom that don't show through to the top surface. The coils are sound.

Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping.
