Traditional Hopi Tewa Clown Carving
Although not technically a Kachina, the clowns appear during Plaza dances and often harass the Kachinas and the crowd. Known for mimicry and social commentary, the Hano or Tewa clowns are a favorite!

Carved from a dried cottonwood root with added "antenna" by Kevin Chavarria of First Mesa. Decorated with corn husks, a cotton wrap and a leather medicine pouch, this delightful clown stands or hangs 13" tall.

Note the mate in the last photo, it has a mustache! That one won't stand, but is a wall hanger.

Buyer pays $20.00 for packing, shipping and insurance.
