Haungooah Sgrafitto Miniature Pottery
Miniature red pottery olla by Art Cody, known as Haungooah, Kiowa Sioux of Oklahoma. He shares the name Haungooah with his grandfather, a legendary 19th century Army Scout and ledger artist.

Art Cody married Santa Clara Pueblo Indian Martha Suazo in the late 1960s and moved to the Pueblo where they collaborated on tiny pottery, she made them and he carved them. They began winning prizes with their very first miniatures.

Unfortunately they both died at young ages, she of an illness, he in a car wreck, in the mid-1980s.

This small pot is 3" tall by 2 1/4" diameter and is carved with an Avanyu and two Mimbres style cranes. Signed Haungooah 1977

Buyer pays $12.50 for shipping and insurance.

Newly listed,a wonderful group of miniature pottery from the 1970s and 1980s. These little gems are the best creations of Pueblo Indian artists, employing the old methods and creating cutting edge style.
