Magnificent large pottery jar from Acoma Pueblo, signed B. Cerno, our instincts tell us this is an early work by Barbara Cerno, known for her very large jars. 8 1/2" tall by 10" diameter with a flat shoulder. Traditionally built with coils of native clay, decorated with bee plant paint. Acoma Rain Birds alternate with seeded foliage, but the best part of the design is the revolving star around the mouth, it really moves! Fine original condition, no cracks or repairs. The black around the rim is slightly abraded, they probably displayed something in it. Buyer pays $30.00 for shipping and insurance. |
