Early 20th Century Rain God figure "speaks no evil". These charming pottery figures were made by the Indians of the Tesuque Pueblo north of Santa Fe beginning in the 19th century as souvenirs for the tourists. The white slipped clay body was painted with water colors that have faded over the last 100 years, but we can see a variation of wheel of life on his chest, leaves on the pot in his lap. Sitting 6 1/4" tall he is in fine condition other than an ear injury a long time ago. It is amazing he has survived all this time! Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance. |
