A Kachin Mana is surrounded by deer or antelope all woven into this old Hopi Indian coiled basketry bowl.
Vegetal dyed red and black colors, imbricated details and a fine even weave all make this old basket quite appealing. Most of the animals are black except for two red ones. Note the deer face to face!
This fine old bowl is 7" tall by 10" wide, very good original condition, great age patina.
Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance.
Indian baskets of the southwest were collected by Bert Carlson, Scottsdale, Arizona, a major collector of Indian artifacts of Arizona. He began acquiring his art in about 1966, buying in galleries and at auctions and from other collectors. At the age of 92 in 2010, he divided up his collection among his three children, from whom we acquired this basket.
