A beautiful and rare double lobed Tus, Apache Indian water canteen, is woven with willow and coated with pinon pitch for water proofing.

The elegant shape may be for ease of carrying, and certainly the fabric thong is nicely tied around it. A double band of twining at the bottom lobe is a bit of decoration.

Standing 9 3/4" tall, 5" diameter.

Very nice original condition, most of the pitch is still here.

Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.

Indian baskets of the southwest were collected by Bert Carlson, Scottsdale, Arizona, a major collector of Indian artifacts of Arizona. He began acquiring his art in about 1966, buying in galleries and at auctions and from other collectors. At the age of 92 in 2010, he divided up his collection among his three children, from whom we acquired this basket.
