Hand woven willow basket covered with glass beads by the Paiute Indians of the Four Corners area. The single rod willow basket starts in an oval and becomes round as it is woven up. the beads are sewn in another layer over the surface. Tall deerskin moccasins for a lady are beaded, tassled and painted with yellow and red ochre. Finished with German silver tacks. These were quite showy and were probably only worn a few times, there are foot prints on the soles. Their style of clothing and beadwork is classic! Loom beaded necklace with tipi, eagle and wheels of life. Antique Indian beadwork is in mint condition, probably spent its life in a box to hide the "swastikas". Made as a tourist item in the southwest during the early part of the 20th century, the prime colors of red, white, blue and yellow are bold! The wheels of life were the "happy face" of the period....
